Gareth Lloyd, Director B.Sc (Hons)
Gareth has over 25 years of relevant experience in the mining and investment industries.
Prior to co-founding Element Capital, Gareth worked as the portfolio manager with the LinQ Resources Fund and its predecessors, the Rothschild Golden Arrow Funds.
During this period, he was responsible for the identification, due diligence and structuring of investments and was also the principal trader for the Funds. Before joining the "buy" side of the investment business, he worked as a mining analyst for Perth-based resources specialist brokers Hartley Poynton and Eyres Reed.
As an equity analyst, he assessed a complete range of mining and exploration companies, providing advice to both institutional and retail clients of the respective firms. Gareth is a mining engineer by training and has had operating experience in gold, base metals and coal operations in Australia, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
David Cornell, Director B.Com (Finance), CA
David has in excess of 15 years commercial and corporate experience in the resources sector with a strong focus in transaction services and business development. In his capacity as advisor, fund manager or director, David has assisted several companies through the listing process and raising over half of a billion dollars through debt, equity and hybrid structures for leading resource companies including Atlas Iron, Alliance Mining Commodities and Energy and Minerals Australia.
Prior to founding Element Capital, David was an Associate Director at the a leading funds management group which managed Australia’s largest listed resource fund. He is currently serving on the board of Vimy Resources which owns one of Australia’s largest independently owned uranium resource in Australia and Greater Arc Resources.
By training, David is a Chartered Accountant gaining his experience with the international accounting firms Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young where he specialised in providing corporate and professional services to both Western Australian junior explorers and international mining companies.
David also has a technical background in hydro-graphic surveying and oceanography.
Mike Brook, BSc (Hons) MAusIMM, MIMMM, C.Eng
Mike is a geologist with over 30 years’ experience in operations, equity analysis and funds management. Recent experience in funds management as Chairman of the the African Lion Funds. Providing Mike with experience in investing and operations across a broad range of commodities and jurisdictions.
Mike gained operational experience with MIM in Queensland before joining stockbroker JB Were in 1993. In his position as Chairman of African Lion he was responsible for the sourcing and management of investments as well as liaison with Fund investors. Mike has held numerous non-executive board positions on junior resource company boards.
Bob Adam,
B.Eng (Mining Engineering), AusIMM, IMMM, and CEng.
Bob has more than 30 years experience in mine planning, operations and project management working in Africa, Australia and India.
Bob is the Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Mining Commodities which is developing the Kobe bauxite project in Guinea with the financial support and backing of Alliance Life, Acorn and Taurus.
Bob has held senior roles with BHP Billiton and Golder Associates and is a corporate member of the AusIMM, The IMMM, and CEng.
Patrick Corr,
LLB
Patrick specialises in the laws regulating the companies and securities industries in Australia, with a particular focus on minerals and natural resources.
Patrick has extensive knowledge of the legal, regulatory and commercial requirements, as well as the practical considerations, involved in mineral and resource project transactions in international jurisdictions, particularly West Africa.
Patrick has served as a director and chairman of a number of publicly listed companies in both the resources and industrial sectors.
Natasha Chandra,
B.Com (Finance), CA, CCS
Natasha is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Company Secretary and has in excess of 10 years experience in corporate accounting, international tax, governance and company secretarial areas.
Natasha speciality at Element is assisting clients by developing and structuring customised solutions for companies seeking cross border transactions and or managing ongoing operations in Indonesia.
Natasha is internationally experienced, locally connected and fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin.
Natasha begun her career as with Ernst & Young and more recently the International Group Financial Accountant for a listed international financial services firm with operations in Australia, Europe and USA.
David Russell,
B.Sc (Special Honours Geology), AusIMM, FINSIA
David has over 30 years experience in the global resources and financial services industries. Prior to his engagement with the Element group David was the Director of Global Resources with Ernst & Young in London and Investec in Australia. David has worked in Southern Africa, Canada and Australia in the exploration, mining and resource finance sectors, including time spent with Anglo American’s JCI in South Africa, Investec in Australia and Golder Associates in Canada.
David has graduate and post graduate qualifications in Geology from the University of Rhodesia and attended the University of Witwatersrand, Graduate School of Business completing Advanced Management (MAP) and Strategic Management (SMP) programmes. Professional affiliations include membership of the AusIMM, the Geological Society of South Africa, Association of London Mining Analysts and he is a Fellow of Financial Securities Institute of Australasia. His experience includes senior management and board positions with resource companies listed on ASX, AIM, JSE and TSX-V.
Doug Stewart,
B.Sc, FAusIMM, FAIG
Doug has over 40 years technical and commercial experience in the resources sector in a broad range of consulting, senior technical and operational roles in mining across three continents.
Doug as an Associate Director with NM Rothschild & Sons Australia an eight year period and helped establish the Golden Arrow Funds I and II. In that role he assisted in raising over $100m for the funds and managed technical due diligence and valuations for investments for Rothschild Golden Arrow Funds.
Doug was recently the Managing Director of Territory Resources Ltd where he played a principal role in managing the company through IPO and into production. Prior to that Doug consulted to the Singapore-based OM Holdings Group on its proposed manganese mine in northern Australia and was also an independent consultant for various banks and Fund Managers.
Doug has also worked as a senior mining and geological consultant focused largely on mine planning and optimisation. He was the Chief Engineer on open pit mines for Teck Corporation in Canada.
Andrea Lloyd,

Andrea has over 25 years experience consulting to organisations in both the public and private sectors across industries including mining, resources, engineering, health and professional services. A skilled facilitator, her areas of particular interest and expertise include Business Strategy, Leadership Development, Organisation Change and Cultural Transformation.
Andrea has run a successful consulting business for the past 15 years and has also provided consulting services on behalf of AIMWA-UWA Business School Executive Education. Previous roles include 10 years as Principal Consultant with the PA Consulting Group, an international management-consulting firm and senior executive roles in the Property Sector and in the Goldfields. Andrea holds an MBA from the University of Western Australia and a BA (Hons) degree from Cardiff University.
Shane McBride,
CFO, CoSec, B.Bus, FCPA, FGIA, FCIS, MAICD;
Shane is a financial and corporate executive; with experience in the manufacturing and mining sectors. Key roles have included the Managing Director role at Matrix Metals and executive director at Energy Minerals Australia.
Shane is also an experienced Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary with over 30 years in listed Australian public companies focusing on:

Mathew Couldridge,
B.Sc
Mathew will be the funds London representative. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree.
Originally from South Africa, Mathew spent the first years of his career working in Investment banks in South Africa before moving to the UK in 2004 where he has subsequently worked for investment banks such as JP Morgan, UBS and Morgan Stanley.
In 2015 he left the investment banking world and has since been working following a career as an independent corporate and financial adviser. Mathew has primarily been focused on raising capital for small to medium cap companies in the resources space.
